Costa Rica pic contest

I just wanted to say that I love looking at everyone's beautiful pictures. I wish there were a way to see all of them instead of just a select few.

Wouldn't it be great if there were a gallery where we could view them all? I guess it's just too many for them to post, but I just love pictures and everyone's stories behind them. It's funny. I have one picture that I really love, and it wouldn't let me post it.

I agree, I would love to see all the photos. I submitted 3 in total...1 of a beautiful sunset at Playa Grande another of a cluster of shells and the last was a funny one of my mom & her seafood soup. I never thought that one would be chosen but you guessed it...it's the one that made it onto the website!

Mine is the one with the man holding the oranges. Our first day in Costa Rica, and we took 500 more pics after that one.

We definitely want to be able to display all of the photos in a more user-friendly manner in the future; there are a ton and the current setup makes it difficult to really display them in a way that makes them easy to browse.

Thank you for taken interest in the contest and being so supportive of each other's photos.

Linda137--I selected one of yours for the slideshow!

It would be great to see everyone's pics -- that way we could see what's missing and upload a particular kind of image no one else has (and thereby increase our chances of being picked!). I'm wondering just how many Tarcoles Bridge croc pics have been uploaded...

A little friendly competition never hurts

But it is nice to see the many great pictures and it would be great to see even more.

Thank you Katie! Didn't mean to whine - I was just being silly.

The seafood soup picture is very funny. It looks like her eyes are crossing. I had a very similar soup a few weeks ago and everyone at the U-shaped bar watched closely to see what I was going to pull out next. Luckily someone across the bar decided to order it too so then the attention was directed his way.

I've heard that people sometimes lower chicken off the bridge to get better croc photos. Maybe I'm a weirdo, but I think I would have enjoyed seeing/photographing that. The last time we were there, many of the crocs seemed to be looking up in anticipation making those photos more interesting than the previous ones.

My mom's a good sport & we're both glad that her soup is giving everyone a laugh!

Katie -- are uploaded photos where you review to confirm your entry supposed to look posterized??? I did not have this problem when I submitted for the Turkey contest. It's been several days now since I submitted my photos, and I don't see a single one in the slideshow -- so I want to make sure that my photo upload wasn't messed up.

Thanks.

Thanks for the info., Katie. Do you think there will ever come a day when we can post photos on fodors like you can on tripadvisor? I think we would all really love that. Thanks for maintaining such a great site.

eenusa- I apologize for getting back to you so late; I've looked at your photos and while you successfully submitted them they do appear odd on our end. From past experience, it seems most likely that they are appearing this way because they are too large. Do they happen to be RAW files?

If you can, would you mind logging back into the contest and deleting those photos and resubmitting smaller versions? If this is a hassle or you have difficulty doing this, please drop me a line at [email protected] and I'll see if we can't work something else out. I'll also email you in case you do not see this today.

Volcanogirl--we'd love for our members to be able to upload photos to the site--even outside of formal contests. It's a priority for '09 after we go live with our first major Forums upgrade later this winter.

Katie thanks for the response - they are definitely not raw photos. I'll see if I can re-upload.
