Costa Rica Help

I am going to the Four Seasons for business in September. I would like to go in a couple of days early to stay on my own. Any reccomendations on nearby towns?

I would stay in the nearby town of Playa Hermosa or Playa Coco - they are quaint, have plenty of restaurants, hotels and will give you a taste of the locals.
The drive is about 35 minutes from the 4 seasons - we stayed at the neighboring Allegro Papagayo and hired a taxi to take us there for an evening out.

I'd give El Velero a try if I were you. It is at Playa Hermosa, I believe. If you don't mind being about an hour south of there, Flamingo Beach is very nice and their Flamingo Beach Resort I would definitely recommend. Also, Tamarindo is definitely worth a visit. It, too, is about an hour south of the Four Seasons/Allegro Papagayo area. Try the Tamarindo Diria (on the beach) or the Pasa Tiempo (inexpensive and well-managed). If you are going to have a rental car and want to see just a little more, I'd head on down to this area for 2 days! More to do and Tamarindo has great nightlife--especially on the weekend! Definitely worth the extra distance.
