Corn Island - where did you stay?

Have read tripadvisor re accommodations on Corn Island. But would have to get Fodor Folks' opinions as well. We are 50-ish couple; not backpackers, but don't need luxury. Thatched roof bungalow on beach with private bath is perfect. Hot water is pretty much required; but don't really need electricity. Any/all information is appreciated!!

A little off the beaten track -- but if you type "Corn Island" in the Fodor's search box it will bring up 15 or so threads on the subject.

Are you wanting to stay on Big Corn or Little Corn? We spent 2 nights on Little Corn at Los Delfines. It was fine, nothing special, and we did have a few plumbing issues. In hindsight, I wish we would have stayed at Casa Iguana on the other side of the island. That is the thatched roof bungalows that you are talking about. Not sure about hot water, but we did have dinner there one night and it was incredible. Apparently, the chef was trained at the Culinary Institute of America, and it definitely showed.

We did spend one night at Casa Canada on Big Corn, and while nice, it was basically just a big hotel. No bungalows.

Is anyone familiar with Paraiso Beach Hotel? It is on the breezy side of the island, right? When do the rains taper off? January?

Casa Canada gets such good reviews, I was hoping to hear more positive comments.

Any other interesting places to consider staying?

Thanks
