Car rental in Dominical

Does anyone know of a place to rent a car in Dominical? We will be taking a transfer from SJO to Trogon Lodge for two nights and then on to Dominical for 7 days. There must be rental agencies in that area and if anyone knows where, please let me know. Hate to pay $85 for each car to have it delivered and then picked up.

Thanks..............

To the best of my knowledge, the closest agencies are going to be in Quepos.

This is about an hour to an hour and a half away. There are several offices there.

Hope this helps! Let me know if I can offer more advice.

Warm Regards,

Pat, thank you for your input. I believe you helped me on our trip last year. Leo, hopefully, can take us from SJO to Trogon Lodge and maybe on to Dominical in a couple of days. We will be in Dominical for 7 days and think we need (10 of us) a couple of SUV's so all can go and do their thing. The other choice is to hire our wonderful driver, if he is available, for the 10 days and all travel everywhere together. Don't know if taxi's are best for getting around in that area. Loved having cars in Playa Grande but did not need them in Manuel Antonio. Can you see I need help? In case you read this, thanks for any input. Seems when I see prices on line for a rental it is reasonable but when I get a quote it is a couple of hundred or more above what is on line. You surely have helped on this forum as so many have. This will be our third trip and I can't get enough of all that these wonderful people have written.

Just got back from that area. I picked up a brochure from puravidarentacar.com

On the brochure they say they have an office in San Isidro (Perez Zeledon). We already had Solid bringing us a car to SI so didn't contact puravida. Can't say how good of a company they are. We turned our car in in Puerto Jimenez at the Solid office so we only had one drop off fee. We then flew back to San Jose.

I have the public bus schedule from San Isidro to Dominical if you are interested but a car really is needed in that area imo.

Another option might be to pay one drop off from a company that has an office in Quepos and drive up to Quepos from Dominical to turn it in. How were you going to get back to SJ from Dominical? You could then take Interbus or fly to SJ from Quepos.

Suzie2.........Thank you for that information. I will contact them. We have a transfer to take us from SJO to Trogon Lodge for two nights and then on to a house in Dominical for a week. With so many of us who want to do such different things, I feel we will need a couple of SUV's while there. The owner has given us a contact who will give us a transfer from Dominical to San Jose for around $200. I think that is good since it is a 15 passenger a/c van and there are 10 of us. Please tell me if you enjoyed that area. Have not been to that area at all. We have been in Arenal, Guanacaste (Playa Grande) and in MA. Loved it all! Thanks again.

We have stayed at Pacific Edge in Dominical and Finca Bavaria further south in the Uvita/Ojochal areas. We really enjoyed our time there. Lots of construction going on in the Dominical Area in the way of houses. Didn't really have much time to check out the beaches in Dominical because we were just there for a night on our way south. We spent 3 nights at Finca Bavaria. We are building a house just outside of the SI area so I am looking forward spending a lot more time on the beaches in Dominical and Uvita.

The road to Dominical is in good condition and the coastal hwy is terrific.
