We want to do a zipline tour near Arenal. I've heard good things about SkyTrek, but at $65 a head X four, I was hoping to find something in the $40-$45 pp range.

Can anyone suggest anything?

Ugh. Canopy tours, not Canoly tour...I can find one of those on Arthur Avenue, lol!

I'd say SkyTrek is the most popular, but there's another one that gets good reviews - I believe it's Mundo Adventuras or something similar.

I believe Arenal Paraiso has some too.

Haven't done the ones at Arenal Paraiso, but they are right there on the property and friends of ours did them last March and thought they were excellent. They are quite extensive with about 18 cables. I'm guessing they are less $$ also. . .

We used Mundos Aventuras and did the zips that go over the falls. You do have to hike a bit, but for 11 zips including a couple super long ones it was well worth it. I think it was $45 or $55, but also including a short (45 min I think) horseback ride at the end and also tour the butterfly and ranarium and gardens (which are small and not super exciting, but an "extra" nonetheless).

Thanks, I just had to laugh for the umpteenth time while planning this trip, I went to the website, there are no posted rates, so I clicked on reserve, filled everything out and they ask you for your credit card information STILL not telling you what the rate is.

I have to say that this isn't the first time I've observed this phenomenon on CR tour sites...do people really give their credit card info without knowing the price?

I don't know, maybe it's just me but I find it very funny. I've seen it with whitewater rafting companies, horseback riding, ATV, etc but only in CR...they all want your credit card but none of them tell you what the rate is!

No rates? That's odd! Maybe your hotel can help you. Granted, they will push whichever company they get comissions with, but if you're specific they should tell you the rates. You could also wait and book when you get there and pick up brochures. Good luck!

nina, I still get a kick out of this one every time it pops back to the top - I like the idea of a cannoli tour! We just got back from our first trip to Boston. Good cannoli are hard to find in Houston.

I think the no rates thing is odd too - I totally agree with hip that I would just book everything when I got there.

PS, my son is a cannoli freak...we drive to Arthur Ave in the Bronx just to get him his fix, and whenever we're in Boston we hit the North End bakeries.

Yep, we went to Mike's and Maria's just to do a comparison. We're total cannoli novices and didn't realize there was more than one kind. We go up to the counter and say, "May I have a cannoli please?" And then realize there's zillions of varieties. Good problem to have though! Loved the North End.
