My husband and I can not decide where to go, Montego Bay, Jamacia, ot to Cancun. This is the first time that we have ever been away together without the kids. We are just looking to have a good time? Any suggestions?? One more thing, I heard there are a lot of Jelly fish in Cancun, is this true??

I am not sure where you were going to stay in Montego Bay, but the airport is there and I heard that you can hear the planes constantly fly over (Sandals in particular). I have been to Negril and Dunns River Falls (Sandals) and to Cancun several times. I had a great time in Jamaica, but you do not leave the resort unless you go on a tour. Not that that is a bad thing because there is plenty to do at most resorts. Cancun, on the other hand, is similiar to any US beach city as far as things to do. There are many restaurants, malls and nightclubs to go to. It is very safe to walk around in Cancun. In Jamaica you know you are in a different country, in Cancun, it is just like being in the US for the most part. I have never seen jelly fish in Cancun. There are certain times of the year when sea lice could be a problem. Sea lice causes a rash where your bathing suit is. One time I had it, but it was not a big deal at all. One way to combat it is to rinse off very well after you get out of the ocean. My husband was never affected by it.

Look at Playa Del Carmen instead of Cancun. You still fly in to the Cancun airport, and the tour companies have TONS of great package deals with air and AI resort. The beaches are white powdery sand, and there is very good snorkeling nearby. We didn't see any jellyfish, but that also depends on what time of year it is.

Skip Jamaica. My husband & I were there a few years ago and will never return. We've been to Cancun many, many times and have never encountered any jelly fish. My sister & I just returned from there 2 weeks ago (her first trip) and she didn't want to leave. If you'd like more info, let me know.

Jamacia has awful beaches. Cancun is clean and safe and has pretty beaches. We did enjoy the Jamacian people, however. BUT the weather was only so-so (xmas season) and beaches were dirty and not pretty.

Negril in Jamaica has beautiful beaches.<BR>Couples, SuperClubs and Sandals are the leading resort chains.<BR>I love both places.<BR>Jamaica has more adults only hotels.<BR>If going to Mexico, bypass Cancun and go to the Mayan Riviera.<BR>

MY WIFE AND I TRAVLED FOR THE FIRST TIME OUT OF THE US TO JAMICA FOR OUR SONS WEDDING LAST YEAR. THIS YEAR IN JULY 2002 WE WENT TO CANCUN AND GUESS WHAT WE ARE GOING TO CANCUN AGAIN IN 2003 AND GOING TO STAY AT THE TUCANCUN ALL INCLUSIVE RESORT. IF GOING TO CAN CUN STAY AWAY FROM CARRIBAN VILLAGE CAN CUN.

JAMACIA is the pitts! At least Boscobel Beach resort can be rated the worst trip in my life! Cancun is the contrast to Jamacia. It has a nice beach, glitzy resorts, and good food and service! I've never seen jellyfish there either. The Marriott in Cancun is a good place to stay.
