Cancun after Wilma

Hi,

Wondering if anyone has any insight into how the resorts might fare after Wilma? I imagine most are built with hurricanes in mind. My son is scheduled to fly down a week from tomorrow for his friends wedding. Any chance they will be able to go after Wilma?

Thanks!

After Emily storm, Cozumel rebuilt most resorts pretty fast. Cancun's biggest resorts will rebound accordingly. Best to email a resort you are considering. I always like the Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach in Cancun. The main thing is the airport, so be to sure to check on flight status. Good Luck.

Just got back from Cancun 3 days ago. It is a mess! Most the big hotels in the hotel zone have been gutted. Ours (Riu Caribe) lost all light fixtures, glass and drywall inside. There was still no electricity in most areas of Cancun when we escaped.

Try the palace resorts at www palaceresorts.com they have updated information on status of the resorts they have all over the Cancun area. Also there is a lot of information and pictures on www.locogringo.com regarding the Riveria Maya area.

I have many friends in Cancun that I keep in touch with almost daily. Repairs are progressing rapidly. Try www.cancunassist.com/specialreports.cfm The site has photos and videos of many of the hotels, restaurants, beaches, etc., post-Wilma, and is updated every few days.
