Cancun @ Christmas

I have rented a condo and booked airfare for next Dec 21 to Jan 4 to Cancun. I have never been and am very excited about the ruins and the beaches, but I have been searching through old posts here about the weather and am now a little worried that it may rain the whole time. Just wondered if anyone who went this year for Christmas can relieve my mind. We went to bahamas last year in January and it was cold and I don't want another experience like that. We were told that the cold was very unusual and it was the coldest it had been for 40 years.

Well... we were in Cancun the first week of January a couple years ago. It wasn't rainy but it was cooler and more windy than I expected. Most pools are not heated there and it was a bit too cool for swimming except at the hottest part of the day. Of course, this would be much better weather for visiting the ruins.

We were in Cancun/Akumal/Playa del Carmen over Christmas 1999 and it rained almost the whole time. Sorry

That's not to say that there will even be one rainy single day while you are there.

Like the other poster mentioned, it was also a bit cool and breezy...

Thanks for all of the replies. Diana I went to the site you recommended, and it looks like the likelyhood of it being warm and sunny is pretty good. I realize that it may not be, but knowing that it can be cool also helps to pack a mixture of clothing so we won't be caught by surprise. Thanks again

Spent Christmas and New Year in Cancun on 2001. Most of the time, it was sunny with few rainshowers. Cancun is not going to be as cold as the Bahamas in December so don't worry about it.
