Cabo San Lucas

I am looking at using points at the Hilton Cabo San Lucas next Christmas time. How is the safety factor in Cabo compared to all the problems Mexico is having elsewhere? I will have an 18 and 20 year old daughters with us.

Has anyone been to the Hilton? Is it nice? Thanks.

Cabo is relatively safe, just use common sense when out at night as you would anywhere. We were just there in Dec. and will be there again next Dec.

The Hilton is on the corridor and not that close to either CSL or San Jose,so not walkable. You will need to take cabs or the bus. It gets great reviews and feed back. It will be nice for your daughters as far as activities: the beach, water sports. Our daughter and her friend went on a zip line, rappelling day trip and loved it. We also did a snorkeling trip. They were only 16, so I had a lot of control over any night life. Your girls will be able to go clubbing. I would insist on going with them, or at least meet up with them before heading back to the hotel. Hopefully you will not have to deal with them wanting to go to clubs.

Have a great trip!

Very convenient and quiet location, close to SJD airport, nice beachfront, surrounded by other nice hotels.

Good safe choice travel.state.gov for safety better than other areas petty theft issues etc downtown, insuremytrip.com

Good luck!

Thanks! Of course they will want to go clubbing! and they are not city girls, although they think they are very grown up! hmmm... something to think about.

I am thinking of a warm relaxing christmas now that they are older. They and DH liked the idea. We have points to use at either a hilton or marriott. I was also looking at the idea of costa rica or another caribbean island. I think we will steer clear of cancun and the mainland of mexico where there is more trouble.

Thanks again!

I may be just over protective, but I would not want my daughter to go out clubbing alone. In a larger group would be ok, but I would have to be next door waiting My daughter is also small town and not worldly, although she thinks she is. If you do go, I am sure you will have a great time.

Michelle, I am overprotective too. Too many kids get into trouble mixing alcohol and being young and trusting. We went to Aruba last year and while they went into this indoor/outdoor club, we walked around nearby shops. Not exactly letting them be alone, but not standing next to them. It is a balance I am working on. Won't be long before they are off on their own!
Thanks for all the advice!
