Buenos Aires: Try This Hotel!

I travel to Buenos Aires regularly and have stayed in a variety of hotels in the under under U$150 a night range....Based on the recommendation of local travel agent Mayra, I stayed at the Regal Pacific on my most recent trip.

I may never again stay anywhere else....Simply put, this may well be the best Hotel in Buenos Aires in its price range, and among the top hotels for any price....

Rooms are large and well appointed, with a state of the art bedside controller for adjusting lights, heat and air, and drapes....a lighted mirror, huge towels, a compartmentalized bath, with a fluffy robe....twice a day maid service.....Breakfast options galore...a superb wine bar...nice inner courtyard and pool area for relaxing.....sitting in the courtyard it is difficult to imagine that one is in the downtown area of a hugh city...it seems so peaceful and serene....

But what really sets this hotel apart from other 4 and 5 star properties is the friedliest and most helpful staff I have experienced anywhere! From the time you enter the front door to the time you leave, the staff will help you in any way possible!

The Regal Pacific has more than earned my unqualified endorsement! Tell em Dr__Dawggy sent you!

drdawggy have you ever stayed at the Intercontinental Hotel and, if so, how does it compare to the Regal Pacific? We have reservations at the Intercontinental but could possibly change but it has to be immediately. We arrive on the 21st of this month.
Thanks,
Pam

Yes, I have stayed in the Intercontinental. I prefer the location and the newness of the Regal Pacific. The biggest disadvantage to the Intercontinental is that it is in an out of the way corner of downtown...The Regal Pacific is nearer to Puerto Madero, the Galeria Pacifico, Florida Street, etc...As well, the rooms are superior at the Regal Pacific in my opinion..and the $125 intro in effect until the end of the year is great! If you change, tell em Dr__Dawggy sent you....Lucia at the front desk will know who I am, as will the manager....

I stayed at the Regal Pacific during my recent trip to Argentina. 3 nights for 110 per night on recommendation from my travel agent.

Agreeing with the good doctor on his evaluation. I especially liked the location which was walking distance from everything. Dining was excellent and unhurried.

this hotel seems to cater to business people. Some minor things (safe didnt work). If you are travelling back to US make sure that you request late check out before you leave for argentina.
Still, would definitely stay at this hotel again.

I have read many of your reports, so your recommendation carries a lot of weight with me. Do you know if the sister property in Santiago is as nice?
I will be flying into BA, heading from there to Patagonia and flying out of Santiago in November. It is the trip of a lifetime. Your counsel has been invaluable in planning. Gracias.

Thank you very much....

I do not know about the Regal Pacific in Santiago, so I cannot comment. Sorry....

Your trip sounds wonderful! Have a great vacation!

After seeing your post, DrD, I contacted the fellow who is putting together our trip next Nov (Andrew Gilchrist of Lost World Adventures) and he advised that both hotels are used by his agency. I told him about your impressions as they will certainly guide my decision making. I will need more help from you as the trip approaches. Thanks for making the effort you do to keep this board informative. Best wishes for the holiday season.

A note about the Regal Pacific--I stayed there a total of nine nights. After a week, I offered feedback to the manager about my stay. I included the good and the bad. The only "bad" was the restaurant, where I had received a very soggy Caesar Salad from room service and an uninspired steak smothered in sauce. 30 minutes later I received a phone call from the executive chef, who asked me to provide him specific feedback about what he could do to improve the food service. He took notes as we talked and thanked me for helping him improve the quality of service. No defensiveness, only a desire to make the guest's experience as flawless as possible.....As I said, overall this is a superb hotel....
