I found that an earlier edition of Footprint [on all of South America] was very good with lots of excellent information. That book is now about 10 years old.
We went to Argentina/Chile several years ago and bought an up-to-date issue of Footprint but it was not nearly as good.
I do not use any tour book for hotel rates as they are often out of date rather I use a local travel agent, but the natural sights will not change.
Other than that, I used Argentina Escapes, travel agent in Buenos Aires to arrange our 9 week travel and was very satisfied. See their web page at www.argentinaescapes.com and you may contact Mercedes at [email protected].
She is very knowledgeable and will not drag the last copper out of your pocket. We will be going back to Argentina in 2009 and using her again. That trip will be to the Galapagos. Machu Picchu, Lake Titcaca ending in Argentina where we will set a spell.
Lonely Planet was good for economic travel and various travel from spot to spot.
Try searching Abe Books [book search engine] www.abebooks.com to locate an early edition.
Hope this is of help.

If you are talking about books, movies music etc. to sort of get you in the mood, there are several good threads about that on Trip Advisor
http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic...Argentina.html
http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic..._District.html
But if you are looking for guidebooks and travel information thats another story. I found the Lonely Planet for Buenos Aires had all sorts of little bits of local colour and interesting tidbits as well as the standard hotel and restaurant info and sights.
And right here on Fodors online there are some good ideas
http://www.fodors.com/world/south%20...res/index.html
Good luck and enjoy.

Nueve Reinas
Family Law
Lost Embrace
Go to www.argentinacafe.com
to read all about different aspects of Argentina/BA.
I read Frommers before our visit here last year.
Reading Fodors and TripAdvisor Buenos Aires forums was quite helpful.
Happy planning!
