I am planning 10 nights/11 days in Argentina in November, and I had originally hoped to visit Buenos Aires, Iguazu and Salta/NW.

However, I just found out (shame on me!) that all flights go through BA. I don't want to be flying that much! Is there any other method of transportation? If not, would you recommend Iguazu or Salta/NW for the second part of our journey?

Another possibility is Mendoza because we love visiting wine country, but it doesn't sound as 'special' as Salta or Iguazu.

Thank you!

Regarding the weather in Salta region, we were there in December and the weather was very nice. Cool, breezy and dry in the mornings and evenings(I needed a wrap or long sleeves)...warm dry days. Iguazu and BA were the hottest places on our 3 week trip...hot and humid.
The only aspect that was more hot for us, was perhaps the delicious spicy food of the area.

PatRode; that´s the point nothing as special as SALTA, it is a town with personality and the area has lot of varied, very different, sceneries. The landscape goes from desert to jungle and the weather is great. The umbearable HEAT is a Myth.
Nicci, nobody could have decribed the weather better than you. Thanks.
AVRooster; you see, epople do not melt in SALTA...

This is my VERY LONG Salta trip report written two years ago, in the middle of our winter and featuring none other than the inimitable Angie(Flintstones). http://tinyurl.com/jsgu8

we went to Colome two years ago for only two nights, and would have preferred to have three. We only had one real day there, because we arrived late and had to leave early. But, we had a very full day -- walking the grounds, horseback riding, hanging out by the pool. It depends if you want to just spend some time relaxing, and doing outdoor stuff. We would have loved the opportunity also to have hiked and biked a bit.

Make sure you have a room facing the pool -- much better view. You can also take your breakfast and enjoy it on your private patio with the wonderful scenery.

Definitelly, AVRooster, as you came in winter and it was warm ou feel it is hot in summer, but he humidity in the area is nothing, and the big temperature range between day and night makes a big difference. There are only a few days hot in Salta, in JAnuary and February, and at night it is always cool...
Ok... Would you bet?

Angie (Flintstones), do you mind some kidding?

Or as the British might say: may I pull your leg a little?

While I an extremely grateful and would LOVE to be in Salta on the 20th of December for your nth birthday and your daughter's
15th, I'm afraid it might be too warm, at that time of the year.

I'm also worried about your "This is a former invitation...". Do you mean the invitation belongs to the past and is no longer valid?

Just pulling your leg, like I said, or, in my normal American English, just kidding. ROTFLMAO!!!!!

Angie, you don't "get" my jokes.

I can't explain ROTFLMAO here and you didn't "get" the rest.

Well, (deep sigh), I'll explain by e-mail.
