LOL Sorry guys, correct spelling would be helpful to you, I'm sure! It was REALLY late when I posted last night! I know, that's no excuse.
Sort of wish I hadn't mentioned being a teacher on an earlier thread! LOL
Yes, it's ethnicarts.com.
I knew to whom gfh was speaking. . .just giving him a hard time. This has been a good thread. I like the dialogue between the owner of Lost Iguana and gfh. It's good to get that misconception cleared up--LI sounds like a place we'd want to visit for sure. And I don't consider her remarks advertising---

Yea sorry Shillmac- I mixed you up with TripleSec. I am not good at this fake name thing(nor am I that great at remembering real ones!)
I seem to remember neat paintings with a carib influence in the SCN gift shop. We are usually way too poor when traveling to consider an art purchase but I always have loved the carib style. We were there last year in June so I assume saw the same artist- I still want a CR rocking chair so paintings might have to wait.
Reguardless I apologize- thanks for the link. I am not the sort of person to start conflict intentionally- I am just was curious gringo prone to rambling who is slighty jealous not to have found this forum until after visiting CR this year- only 2 years late

GFH, You may not have spent much time in the gift shop, but I KNOW you had to see all the Patricia Erickson paintings around the pool bar! Anyway, someday. . . .of course, I'd have to have an entire room to decorate in the Caribbean style so the painting would be "at home" there. My, my, how one thing does lead to another!
TripleSec, did you find a mask you like?
Halloween is over, so you have time to think about it before next year. . .

Hey shillmac : I was slightly surprised you remembered a connection btwn myself and carved masks...However, the purchase I made in CR was for a collector friend of mine for his b'day in Oct. He really liked the treated/carved Balsa that was painted in the style of the Boruca Indians in CR. (Can't say for certain that actual natives did the work...you just never know!)
Anyway, my friend has about 160+ masks in one room - and is it impressive. Many countries and styles represented. My contributions over the years are each Xmas and b'day, for about 8 years running...
I looked at the masks online as you recommended and forwarded the link to him earlier this afternoon. I was impressed with what I saw. Let's see what he says. I don't anticipate a reply for 2-3 days, as he gets swamped in his work and only rises for air during Sat/Sun.
Thanks for the info!
Smiles,

Lost Iguana
looking back thru these recent posts...are you referring to me? I am not your ex.
We stayed at your place last spring. I met you then. maybe you remember us? You had us move our car so you could get a bulldozer back behind the building. You were polite and apologized and we talked for a bit and discussed your plans and we conveyed how we were unhappy with the construction and wanted to see the lava which was flowing more north than west. remember? Discussed how we were from the Houston area also? Jamie and Kim.
Sorry to criticize your place here but i was just calling it like I saw it. I've been going to Costa Rica nearly every year since '93, surfing, deep-sea fishing and I love volcanoes.
But I am not your ex and it sounded like you were referring to me as such.

What time of year are you going? I didn't stay at Tabacon but we did visit for a half-day in March and it was so incredibly crowded that it was almost impossible to relax there. The food at the restaurant there was also not very good. We enjoyed it for a half-day visit but wouldn't go back. We stayed at the Observatory Lodge and tho you can't see the lava flows there we loved it in every other way...great food, hospitality, clean rooms, lovely grounds and views and lots of wildlife all around the lodge (tho that might be common for the area). We plan to go back and stay there or Arenal Paraiso and we'll visit one of the smaller hot springs where they have a smaller number of visitors allowed daily. We've been told the other hotsprings in the area are quite nice.
