Belize - Victoria House Beach/Water

Has anyone stayed at Belize's Victoria House lately?

If so, what's the shallow, close water like at the beach? Grassy, or sand?

We had lunch ther two times last week. The property is beautiful and they really keep the beach area clean with lovely lounge chairs and hammocks. Water was always clearer there than any other locations. Grass in the water is just part of the environment but they did have some spots you could wade to without grass.

VH is one of the finest inns in Belize, great new rooms, 3 pools, very good restaurant, sandy beach, I believe they rake the sea grass in front, certainly in some areas. I know sea grass is not appealing to some, but its the nursery for all the creatures people travel to Belize to see while snorkeling, diving and have for dinner...Best choice on the caye.

Very interested in staying at Victoria House this may. Two follow up questions: 1)does anyone know how this resort compares to Journey's End? 2) does Victoria House offer inland tours?

I've never stayed at either, but, have stopped by both properties. Victoria House is several steps above Journey's End. Not even close. It's also easier to get to town from VH. But, it's far enough south to be quiet, not much pedestrian traffic on the beach.

Virtually all the tour companies on the island will pick you up at any of the resorts docks. I'm sure Victoria House can arrange whatever you want, but you wouldn't be 'locked' into their operators.

We were in AC recently and visited both properties (did not stay at either). VH is nice BUT I did not like the beach at all- as a matter of fact it was awful. The resort is very nice and we enjoyed our meal at their main restaurant- (Pamilla ?)

I much prefereed the beach at Journeys End and the overall place, while less luxurious than VH was nicer, in my view.

The Azul resort near Journey's End was by far the best, but its pricey.

I've stayed at both and have visited both many times. Victoria House is total class, one of the top places on the island or indeed in Belize. I only wish it were a little less expensive. The new condos units are fantastic! Journey's End doesn't begin to compare.

Thanks for the information. Anyone have a favorite place in Belize? We'd really like to dive and visit a large reserve, but I'm clueless.

Three most accessible and visited areas with a nince range of activity would be Ambergris and Placencia for beach and Cayo for jungle. But lovely jungle all over and other great beach areas, including Hopkins, the small islands on the reef and the atolls.
