Belize or Costa Rica

We have an opportunity to visit Belize or Costa Rica mid-October. Can you tell me which would have better weather at that time of year?

Both are great but I'd give the nod to Costa Rica

I haven't made it to Belize (yet), but I went to Costa Rica last year and loved it. I spent a week there and went home wanting more

Really depends on what parts of each country you're talking about.

Some parts of Costa Rica are borderline uninhabitable in October due to constant torrential rainfall.

Thanks! Is it worth going if we just go to drier parts of the country?

I'd go to Belize if you want snorkeling and ruins and to Costa Rica if you want wildlife. We've been to CR several times and keep going back to see more. Have been to Belize once and really enjoyed it, but it hasn't called us back like Costa Rica does. Costa Rica has fantastic hiking and adventure activities like ziplining, waterfall rappelling, white water rafting, etc.

Sure, it's worth going. Just be ready for rain--I don't think there is a dry part of Costa Rica that month. I would maybe look at the Caribbean coast as an option. Though, October is the month when HUGE numbers of turtles nest ashore near Nosara, Costa Rica at Playa Ostional (but only during the right moonphase).

I like Belize because it has fantastic hiking, zip lining, white water rafting, cave tubing, diving and all around nature.

I'd avoid the more southern areas of CR at that time. I know that the Osa and Manuel Antonio can be very rainy at that time of year.

Thank you all! Your input has helped us to choose a different destination for October, and do Cost Rica after the rainy season. Will be checking in then for recommendations for lodging and activities.

Not sure about the weather/rain in October - but if you want beaches and snorkeling, go to Belize; if you want wildlife, go to Costa Rica.
Ruins and caves in Belize, volcanoes and zip lines in CR;

We loved them both for different reasons, but we'll definitely go back to CR. Belize...maybe.
