Beach Reconstruction - Playa del carmen????

Hello - i saw pictures from someones vacation to playa del carmen (just a few weeks ago) and there was construction being done to the beach - fences up, construction equipment and all. Does anyone have any information on how long this is going to last and how far it stretches?? We are staying at the Valentin in playa del morelos and i HOPE and PRAY that our beach will not be like that!

Any info is greatly appreciated!

thanks!

Most of the work is completed and none of it was or will be anywhere near Puerto Morelos.

The Mayan Rivieria encompases beaches from Cancun south all the way to Tulum, @150 miles at least. PM is one very small beach along that stretch but by no means THE beach on the MR.

Most of the beach restoration is being done in the Playacar area...not near the Valentin.

Since we are discussing the Mayan Riviera, does anyone have info on Cancun's beach restoration? I am thinking of doing a quick trip this coming Mon-Fri to get away from the snow here in the D.C. area. But I am seeing terrible photos of 6 ft drop offs in the sand about 15 ft from the water, where the beach is being "restored." It looks like maybe you can't even get to the water.
