Beach at Moon Palace in Cancun

Looking for info on the beach at Moon Palace Resort in Cancun...is there a lot of seaweed in the water? Is this a nice resort? Would you recommend another resort instead of this one? Planning on our very first trip to Cancun in July so any suggestions are appreciated. We will be 3 adults and 1 child. Thank you.

I should let someone who has stayed at Moon Palace answer this, but here goes anyway. Moon Palace is about 30 minutes south of Cancun. It's huge, the beach is not great, but the pools are lovely. Personally, I would stay at one of the resorts in Playacar, there you would have a lovely beach, beautiful resort and the fun town of Playa del Carmen a long walk (30 minutes) or a short cab ride away.

If you really want to be in Cancun, there are numerous nice hotels along the strip there.

If you type in 'Moon Palace' in the search box, you will see that not one person likes the beach here. Too much seaweed. But the pools are awesome. If it's a nice beach you want, this is not the resort for you. I agree that Playa Del Carmen (resorts in Playacar) is a better choice. Lovely beaches in that area, no seaweed.

BarbK,

Moon Palace is an incredible hotel, but the beach isn't that great, or the water isn't, seaweed and nothing to see, fish, etc. MP is also really far from town and it costs at least $10 per trip to get there and there are no public buses that run to the resort. If you want shopping, restaurants and entertainment, go to the strip. Seclusion, go to MP, Seclusion and small awesome town, go to Playa Del Carmen. I loved all three, but would choose to stay on the strip if I go again.

Thank you all for your help. We have decided to stay at MP because we have heard great things about the resort and will use our exchange privileges at another resort for the beach.

Be sure to take advantage of the included tours - specifically the one to Isla Mujeres where you are sure to have nice beaches & it is all included!
