BA nightlife with kids
I have read here and elsewhere that Argentina is very child-friendly in terms of restaurants. In the U.S. we often take our 4-year-old daughter to places that we feel are appropriate but that are not your typical kid places (eg upscale hotel lounges that have live music) and she behaves well and does not act in a way that seems to take anything away from the other patrons. While in BA, I am hesitant to get a baby sitter in a strange city (we are renting an apartment, not a hotel) but would like to be able to go out a few times.
I am not sure where we can take our 4-year-old in Buenos Aires. To tango shows? To lounges? Are there rules or laws we should know about?

Sorry about the delay, LA, but my daughters are about 30, so this is somewhat out of my area of expertise. LOL!!!
You CAN take your 4-year-old daughter anywhere, I'd say, but, the question is, won't she be bored stiff?
If not, just take her.

Yes, they are very child friendly here... children are very well behaved here too. We have been to Classical music concerts and have been surprised when we saw a small child sitting quietly through the whole thing ..
My feeling is that they value the time they are with their children and don't leave them home with sitters as much as we did in the US.. and maybe that is because restaurants are welcoming , more so than most in the US.
I totally agree with the baby sitter in a strange city worry- I never did it, I just couldn't
I am afraid that the Tango Shows and milongas are not going to welcome children though..
Lounges and wherever they serve liquor will not welcome a 4 year old.
This is like any huge city in Europe or the US..
Get a Time Out Buenos Aires and see what they have ..

In case anyone else has the same questions I did, I found that the restaurants were very welcoming to my child. They eat VERY late and the meals take forever to complete but I gave her a very late nap so that our family could go out every night. With the nap, we could make 9pm reservations with no problem.
As to milongas, sadly they were out. No kids allowed.
