Aventura Palace Tips

We are heading down the Aventura Palace on Saturday May 4th and have a couple questions about the Palace Resorts. We are very excited about the tip and are looking for some guidance before we get down there.

I can see from the map the Cancun hotel zone looks far away from the Aventura Palace. We want to visit the other Palace hotels in Cancun and were wondering how often the shuttle service ran or if it made sense just to get a taxi. How much can we expect to pay for the taxi?

What are the best Palace restaurants? We want to sample as many as we can, but don’t want to blow an evening.

What is the best tour they offer. We want to do the Isla Mujeres tour but from the looks of it, it is pretty far away from the Aventura, is it worth the trip?

If we head to Isla Mujeres, how is the swimming with the dolphins? Is it worth it?

Tipping - I know the brochure says no tipping, but what is the practice, and will we see increased service if we pass out a couple bucks to the staff.

Ice – heard that you should stay away from the ice in Cancun. But, we want to take advantage of the frozen margaritas. Should we be concerned?

ATM’s and conversions – should I get some peso’s before I leave home, or use my ATM when I get there. I know in Europe my back has been pretty kind to me with conversion rates.

Calling home – what is my best option to call the farm in Ohio to check on the crops?

Body surfing – I love to body surf, where is the best place to do this close to the Aventura?

I realize that this is a lot of info to ask about - thanks for any input you can provide.

Estabon

Just got back, you will love it especially the jacuzzi, ask for a third floor unless you don't like steps. Good advice from Jody,I would exchange money before you leave and it's better to have more Mexican money, we didn't exchange that much and they charge more for American.Shutles go daily, pick up in morning come back that night. You will love Adventura Palace, they really pamper you there and the exotic drinks in the pineapples are great. Food was good but nothing special. Jacuzzi and hammocks were fun . Went to Chichen Itza, well woth it, also did the jet skis was fun but the fumes from the jet ski got to us when snorkeling although I would go again. Watch out for taxi make sure you know up front how much it cost, they tried to overcharge from the hotel. Go to Senor Frog and also Playa de Carmen for sovinours. The hotel itself has diffeent entertainment each night loved the casino night(with their money) and Karaoke. They also bus peole to night clubs in Cancun. Feel free to write if you need anything else. I reaaly envy you, were planning to go back in July.

The replies regarding Aventura Palace are so encouraging until I now need help deciding where to stay. I was going to book Palace Mexico in Playa Del Carmen but Aventura sounds awesome!! We will be honeymooning there so the jacuzzi in the room sounds great! Does anyone have a comparison of the two resorts (Aventura vs. Palace Mexico) or an idea of which would be the better stay at?

We picked the Adventura Palace because it is an all adult resort and we went during spring break and didn't want alot of kids. Talked to several guest who originally started in a different palace only to change to Adventura. The only drawback is the beach part isn't great and not close to Cancun but did have shuttles to go there. The jacuzzi is a great plus bring candles and make it more romantic. We're making plans to go back real soon. Any questions please write.

Cancun Palace has a nice restaurant. Moon Palace is very very nice, too. If you ask at the hotel, they can steer you.

Trying to decide where to go in May 2003 for a honeymoon. Seriously looking at Aventura Palace Resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico. From what I am reading, everyone who went ther loved it. Anything BAD to say? Or is it REALLY as good as I am reading???

Dear Estabon,
The Swim with Dolphin park on Isla is one of the worst of these awful parks. Please don't go there.

Over half of all dolphins who survive their violent capture die within 90 days. The average lifespan of a dolphin in the wild is 45 years; yet half of all captured dolphins die within their first two years in captivity. The survivors last an average of only five years.
Every seven years, half of all dolphins in captivity die from capture shock, pneumonia, intestinal disease, ulcers, chlorine poisoning and other stress related illnesses. Some even commit suicide. Yes, dolphins can and do commit suicide. They hold their breaths until they sufficate. They do this because they can no longer stand the lives they live in captivity. Marine parks subject their mammals to hunger so they will perform for food. Jumping through hoops, tailwalking and playing ball are trained behaviors that do not occur in the wild. Confined mammals tend to develope sterotypical behaviors, such as swimming in repetitive circles or just floating at the surface, with eyes closed and in silence because of boredom, depression and confinement. This is an awful industry that tortures and kills dolphins. Please don't participate.
www.dolphinproject.org

Aventura Palace has a lagoon blasted out of coral . The lagoon is not a good beach. I stayed there and it is boring. The front desk is rude and the management could care less.

Go to Playa Del Carmen and enjoy one of the many resorts there. If you must go to Puerto Aventuras , go to the Omni. The Omni has a great beach and the staff are very nice.
