Enjoyed the post from beantown. My sentiments about Cancun exactly! While their are some nice hotels such as the Meridien and Ritz, to me, its just not worth the hassle of getting involved in the Cancun scene!

I still love Cancun! But I wouldn't go during spring break, and I would go downtown to eat at some great restaurants!

Have heard of others who have had clothing stolen from 5* hotels in Cancun. Any tips to avoid this? Locks on suitcases? Or will that just draw more attention?

Watch out for ratings! Apple seems to give everything 5 Stars!
The only "real" 5 star hotel in Cancun is the Ritz Carlton and perhaps the JW Marriott. Never heard of any stealing from these 2 hotels.

My daughter had clothes taken from her room at the Hyatt. What about the Hilton? Should we be concerned about stealing there too??
