arrival in San Jose question

Hi, thanks for all of the help in trip planning so far. I just read a post, "trip notes," that said they had to go upstairs to get exit stamps. This makes me wonder if there may be things about the arrival in San Jose that we may need to know. What are these exit stamps? Will we need them, and what else might we need to know to get out of the airport and to our rental car quickly? Again, thanks in advance.

u do not need to get them as u arrive in costa rica . some choose to do this to avoid a potential lineup when departing . the lineup was not long when we left , so all went quickly . u can do both .

Smile.....regarding getting your rental car quickly.....we recently rented with Thrifty. Customer service and the car were both excellent - but there was quite a bit of paperwork, getting passport info etc.....
Your rental car pickup may well be youir first introduction to "tiempo Tico" But I can almost guarantee that despite a delay or two you will have a wonderful trip.

Thank you Faithie and gannetmusic. I guess I am worried about our time frame. Sounds like I'd better let that worry go. Thanks!

tbelgian,
Absolutely--let ALL your worries go! Getting our rental car is usually stress-free. We have found the agencies we have used (Dollar and Tricolor) to be very professional and quite efficient at getting us on our way. You do have to pay $26 in exit tax per person when you leave. When you enter the airport, turn to your right and get in line to pay. They will give you a receipt which you will need to hang on it. Then you will go ahead with checking in at your ticket counter.
