Arenal Paraiso Zip Line - good for first timer?

Has anyone done the Arenal Paraiso zip line? Would it be good for someone trying out a canopy tour for the first time? Not too high, no rappels, etc.

Colibri, we did rappels on our first trip out. I was glad I didn't know about them, or I might have chickened out and not booked it, but it turned out to be even better than the zipline. My husband thought the same thing. One of ours was a straight 100 foot drop without using our hands, and I was really nervous. I told the guide I didn't want to do it, and he said, "Why not? It's fun!" So I just did it, and he was right. You might like it!

Volcanogirl,

I'm determined to try it this time and have told my friend if I try to chicken out, just make me do it!

I'm not very coordinated or athletic and have visions of plowing into a platform or something....

If I survive, I'll include it in my trip report!

I had a funny experience. I had to hand brake by pushing down on the line above my head. I was so worried about crashing into the platform that I braked way too early on my first line, and there I was just dangling out there. It was pretty funny. I had to swirl around and hand over hand pull myself to the platform. The guys were really encouraging though, "Oh you did so well!" Arenal Paraiso gets very good reviews. I think you'll like it.

I don't think I needed to hear that!!! I can just imagine myself dangling out there on a cable in the middle of nowhere - yikes!

Last year some girl really freaked out when a friend of mine went. Got stuck in the middle and somehow the guide had to go out and get here.

I sure hope that won't be ME!!

Luckily they had warned us ahead of time that it might happen and how to handle it - it was funny that it was me though! Maybe I should have told you that story AFTER you did it!
