Also looking for info on Lookout Inn

I noticed that another poster has asked about this place. The owner of a B&B I've stayed at has the Lookout link listed on his website. It looks quite intriguing. Makes it hard to believe no one has ever been there. Please, if you have, give us a hand. What did you think?
Thanks!
Gretchen

I stayed at Lookout Inn a month ago. I had an okay time but probably not a place I'd go back to again and again. Part of the problem, I think, was that I had been to Bosque del Cabo the previous year and was heading there again after my 3 nights at Lookout Inn. So I was really looking forward to that and probably unconsciously compared the two. I stayed in one of the rooms they have, was nicely sized and clean, just a small fan but never was hot at night. The food was okay, nothing fancy, breakfasts were the best. I spent 3 nights and would've been fine with two. Any questions, please feel free to ask.

tully - Let me ask you this. If you had 5 or 6 days to spend in Osa, would you spend all 5 or 6 days at BdC? Can you do a trip to Cano Island from there...or spend a day at the beach?

Thanks. Diane

I fully agree with Tully about Look Out. I enjoy that area and have stayed at most of the places in Carate. There isn't a whole lot to do and it can be very hot just walking the beaches. If you are looking for a place to stop on your way into the park or just want a place that you can just kick back and relax in, the Look Out is good. I was ready to kick back last year when I went. Hubby had been running me all over CR looking at birds and I was happy to just chill in a hammock on the beach with trees full of Scarlet Macaws overhead after he left the country and I was traveling alone.

Bosque del Cabo is a hard act to follow (or precede in tullys case .

Bosque is a beautiful place and I could easily live there year round rain and all. Whether you would be happy being so isolated for 5 days is a different matter. If you are into nature, this is the place to go. All four species of monkeys can be seen almost daily (at least when we have been there). Coatis, Peccaries, there are big cats around, all kinds of birds. We saw a whale off the coast one year.

You can pay to go back into Puerto Jimenez to do some tours. You can take a tour with the resident biologist -Philip is a sweetie. Like birds? Eduardo likes them too and knows where they all are. Jose-bartender. We have gotten to know other members of his beautiful family in other places down there-great people. We first met him years ago when he was working at Lapa Rios. All of the staff are the sweetest nicest people we have met. The girls will welcome you with beautiful smiles. BdC has wonderful, well maintained, trails all over the property. Surfing is available nearby as is a fun waterfall rapelling tour. Horseback is also available.

Thanks Susie and Tully!
You gave me the info I needed. I think we'll try BdC. I'm thinking of early May...but, can go almost any month. When would be best?

seawitch, I spent 5 days at BdC last year and 6 nights this year. I think 5 nights is a good amount personally. If you like to hike/walk a lot, then there are enough trails to keep you plenty busy. The Golfo Dulce trail is my favourite; it's not an easy hike but it's a good workout and you get the 3 beaches at the end as a great payoff (last beach is best). After all that hard work coming down, make sure you have some colones with you to buy some Imperials!

Suzie - Jose sang for us several nights in a row, he is just too much fun! We also had one very late night in a downpour (and maybe more than a few drinks) spent learning all the Spanish words you don't say in polite conversation!

cactus - I've gone down there the last two year in May, so you can take from that what you will Several nights of heavy rain and 1/2 of a day with a light rain, but other than lots of mud it didn't have any effect on my activities.
