Aerolineas Argentina - what is it really like?

I plan to visit Argentina in late February for two and half weeks. Aerolineas seems to come up with the cheapest fare and flying directly from London, UK. An Argentinian friend who flies to UK at least once a year warned me about uncomfortable flights she had with aerolineas and advised me to go with other European airlines. Is she right ? Is a saving of 100GBP worth the discomfort? Another friend who had backpacking round the world recently thought the flight with aerolineas was nothing special but alright. I am confused. Any advice is appreciated.

My wife and I visited Argentina late last year and flew with AA, although it was only from Rio to BA. We thought they were OK, nothing too special, but the service was adequate and the personnel were nice.

During the ongoing economic woes, I've had two Argentine friends discover their checked-on luggage pilfered after flying Aerolineas. Each lost clothes. I'm not sure if this is a chronic problem or not, but I'd be interested to hear if any others have had troubles. One friend (who lives in New York) said she'll only fly American or European airlines from now on.

Thank you all for your input. I am still of two minds whelther to fly with AG. I am not pampered or anything, it just is a long flight(16 to 18 hours flight time)from London and I want to be sure it is not false economy.
