Just walk down the strip in Acapulco and you will see many nightclubs like
Hardrock Cafe
Carlos and Charlies
Plus many other..they are all advertised along the strip.

Take a Tour of Acapulco and see the Cliff divers and also the Princess Fairmount Hotel where Howard Hughes once owned the Penthouse there.

There is lots to do and see by just walk, it is like walking the Malecon in Puerto Vallarta.

You may see a large cruise ship as it docks almost right down town in Acapulco Bay.

Don't rent a car , driving is not for the faint at heart in Acapulco..taxi's are cheap.

rlopez--

Where will you be staying in Acapulco? We just came back from a one-week vacation in Acapulco staying at the Grand Mayan. It's one of the most beautiful resorts I've ever seen!

We hired a very nice driver/tour guide who took us to places where you wouldn't be able to go to by yourselves. He also took us to places (one by the beach and one on a lagoon) where you can get the most delicious fish (sold by weight, perfectly seasoned and grilled, yummmmmm.....)on earth!

We also did shotover jet which was a thrilling ride (50 MPH 360-degree spin on a jet boat)in the jungle. If you'd like more information about this driver and things we did, please post your email address and I will send them to you. Despite the lack of information on this board, Acapulco is really a nice place to visit! Enjoy your trip!

oh yea! ice_leopard, a welcome post. hopefully you will keep an eye on the Latin America board and help with Acapulco questions.

For whatever reason there are quite a few of us that have Puerto Vallarta and the Mayan Riviera area well covered, but Mazatlan and Acapulco and to some extent Cabo... often get questions with no or few replies. so thank you.

Acapulco lost favor as a tourist destination due to pollution and crime. Supposedly the pollution is better now but when I was there in the late 90s the bay was so polluted it was disgusting to swim in. Also, this year there have been several killings by drug gangs. They beheaded some people and the heads washed up on the beach.
I'm sure they weren't tourists though.

Hi Iceleopard,

We are visiting Acapulco 1st week in September and would be interested in the guide you speak of. Do you have his contact details? Shall appreciate them.

Since it's been a year since we went to ACA, you may want to check recent comments on tripadvisor.com to see if Benjamin Alarcon is still people's favorite guide. Here's his contact info:

from us: 011-52-744-530-7990

Good luck and have a nice trip!

I am familiar with the information you posted about a driver B. Alarcon as he has seems to have fallen out of favor by over charging tourists on numerous posts on the tripadvisor site...
