4X4 rental - drop-off charge?

I am looking for a reliable company to rent a 4X4 that won't cost me an arm and a leg for drop-off charge to Sierpe. Any advices, preferably from personal experience (good or bad)? Thank you

Solid Car Rental best in that area check with them

www.mapache.com biggest best local no drop off in some areas

Sierpe is not one I think not much market in that area

so they have to pay someone to drive it back.

Good personal experience with both..

Thanks, I'll check with Solid.
Mapache, on the other hand, is one of the more expensive rentals, even when considering their free cellular offer for on-line booking; on top of it, the drop-off charge is $125.

As qwovadis pointed out, Sierpe is pretty far from any mainstream place so you could expect to pay a drop off charge. As he said, they have to pay someone to go there and pick up the car.

Not sure why you want to drop off your car in Sierpe but there may be other transportation options where you drop off your car somewhere else and take bus or shuttle to Sierpe.

Thank you hsmithcr, this helps. I will change the itinerary to return the car in a more convenient location.

If you rent from Solid, you can drop off in Palmar Sur, and then arrange for a taxi to Sierpe.

A few days ago I tried to get from Solid an online price quotation. On their website, under "Cars & Rates", I could only find the cars' details, not rates.
I then tried to get a quote online and I received this funny result:
Car Class: Suzuki Grand Vitara - Standard 4x4
Rate: Average Daily Rate of US $0.00/day for 9 days.
Total Base Rate US $0.00
I then tried to register, and I got this error message: "SQL error: Column 'dailyrate' cannot be null."
Finaly, I sent them an email, but so far no answer.
Does anyone have any experience with these guys?

Email to and from CR can take an hour or a couple days, just depends. I had excellent service from them. Email Diego at [email protected] for a quote

Appreciate the tip, tully; I resent my request to Diego.

Do some searches for Costa Rica Car Rental, as I've posted on this topic before. We recommend booking through Jeff at Costa Rica Surf.

http://www.crsurf.com/rent4x4.html

Best rates - insurance included and one flat rate with a reasonable deposit.
