Rental car drop fee

Does anyone know how to avoid a "drop fee" between San Diego and San Francisco?

From Advantage

Starting at only $60 per day, with NO DROP FEE and free mileage of 500 miles per day, our one way program let's you pick up the car and return between any two Advantage U.S. locations.

There used to be a California-owned rental place with locations at SFO, LAX and others that allowed drops between its locations. Been too long for me to remember the name, though. Check if non-chain rental names that appear at both airports.

Don't get hung up on the drop fee. Some agencies advertise no drop fee but jack up the prices for cars that are one way -- same difference. I've had the best prices from Dollar for picking up in one California city and dropping in another.
How long are you renting and when by the way?

I avoided a drop-off fee by getting a Costco rate on a one-way rental.

I was coming out to Long Beach and called National to get our corporate rate during the week. Then I wanted to drive to Las Vegas and fly home from there. The corp rate had a dropoff fee and I simply asked if they had a rate that didn't include the fee. That's when I was asked if I was a Costco member and when I said yes I got the same daily rate but without the drop off fee.
