I am planning a few days there early next year and found the following website helpful as to neighborhoods and museums: http://www.chipsites.com/ww/green-mi...ago-chile.html. Also, if you wanted something more organized but unique, we are also planning to spend a day with Liz Caskey tours. She does food and wine excursions within and without Santiago. (www.lizcaskey.com) Her rates are not cheap but we looking forward to it as a capstone to end our trip to South America. Finally this same Fodors sight has at least one walking tour for Santiago described under "Destinations" tab. That should get you started

Also, if you like reading in advance of trips I have enjoyed Isabel Allende's "My Invented Country" and Ariel Dorfman's "Heading South, Looking North" both memoirs of Chilean novelists. (Their novels are good too, but aren't necessarily about Chile.)
