Zurich to Munich
Looking for best options to train from Zurich's airport this Sept. 7th. Want a morning (after 9) train to Munich's train station, but apparently there are no nonstop. Maybe I'm seeing it incorrectly, but my options look like a train to a bus (assuming at Zurich's bus station). Not sure if it goes to Munich train or bus station. I believe they are close-by.
The other options looks like 2 train routes -one with multiple trains & the other may include a bus.
The sites I've been to can be confusing.
Bahn.de also states: "runs not every day, 30. Jul until 15. Sep 2019; not 9. until 12. Aug 2019 "

You are reading it correctly. There IS direct bus service from Zurich main station to Munich HBF, but it may make stops along the route. Getting from the airport to the main rr station is easy - frequent rail service every 15 or 20min, and a 10min ride. There is no non-stop service from Zurich Airport to Munich.

For September 7, Zurich Flughafen to Muenchen HB
departs 9:46 and arrives 13:59, using IC train and bus.
From Zurich Airport, after luggage claim (ground level), follow the signs to cross the street, under the underpass. ' To the Trains'
Departs ZRH airport at 9:46 from track 3
Arrives ZRH HB (main) @ 9:55 on Track (Gleis) 31
From there, ask for directions to nearby Car park Sihlquai to catch Bus #43534 leaving at 10:16 for Munich ZOB (maIn bus station, usually attached to main train station), arriving at 13:59 .

Mokka4-Thank you. That looks like the best option. I considered taking trains, but that means two changes and a longer day. Our flight is supposed to arrive at 08:30. Does the time frame seem logical? I understand customs, etc. moves pretty fast. We will have no bags checked.
Understanding that delays can happen, should I wait to book at the airport, or do it in advance?

Yes, but it's more comfortable to travel by train and the view from the train is stupendous if you're taking the train via Innsbruck.

Yes, the 10:16 Bus from ZRH HB is still available to book.
SuerSparPreis is now 29.90€. This is a BUS-SPECIFIC FARE! If you miss this bus, you lose your money.
FlexPreis is now 93.40€. This is a DATE-SPECIFIC ticket, allowing travel on a later bus (at least, that's how the TRAINS work).
You can purchase train tickets from Zurich Flughafen (airport) to Zurich HB (main station) from any ticket kiosk. This train takes just 10 minutes to HB and several run each hour. (I usually find long lines at the SBB ticket office, and this would bite off some of your precious time.)
IME, flights are generally early. But you would have to weigh the personal risk vs benefit of price differences.

Maybe just a few basic remarks:
1. Zurich > Munich is served by TWO bus companies.
The buses you find when you make an inquiry on German Rail website are only the ones operated by German Rail.
In addition, there are the services operated by Flixbus.
2. All services by either company which take less than 4 hours are non-stop services from Zurich bus station (directly at Zurich central rail station) to Munich bus station (1 stop with public transport from central rail station)
Any long-distance service may have restrictions regarding "cabin luggage". If you max out the size limits for AIR cabin luggage, it may not fit in the overhead racks of the BUS. In any case, I would take a small tote bag or similar for your most important possesions to take with you on the bus.
3. While German Rail buses have fares that go from advance purchase rock-bottom cheap to sky-high flexible (you've seen the difference between €19 and €80something), Flixbus usually has a much lower ceiling for maximum fares. For example, an advance purchase with Flixbus could be €15 or €18, while same day purchase would be €25.
To solve the dilemma of a possibly delayed arrival in Zurich by air (and trying to avoid to pay for steep flexible fare), you could
- get a ticket for that German Rail bus at 10:16 as planned,
- install the Flixbus app on your phone,
- in case you miss the 10:16 bus, use WiFi at Zurich central station to buy tickets for the next Flixbus service at 12:30.
Or:
- Get tickets for any early afternoon service from Zurich to Munich.
- Take the train to Zurich central station, leave your luggage at the station, and
- stretch your legs and walk around Zurich old town.
