Zurich to Innsbruck

I'm planning a trip to Austria in mid April. What's the best route to take and is this far enough into spring to where I won't have to deal with a lot of snow?

What modes of transportation are you considering?

Munich may be easier for you to Austria---both Innsbruck and Salzburg.

mid April can still have snow in the mountains. What activities are you planning? We have gone end of May and it was fine - and by then snow was confined to the mountaintops - but I think in mid April you might find it chilly - and messy if you plan on any hiking.

You should not have snow in Innsbruck or Salzburg - but don't expect it to be warm.

I have done the train journey from Zurich to Innsbruck, if this is what you are considering it is very easy, interesting and scenic. I love Innsbruck and stayed there for three weeks, taking in all the surrounding mountain villages.
