Suggestions for stops between Zurich and Salzburg

We are planning to visit family in Biel, Switzerland next May. After a week there, we want to head to Salzburg for a couple of days. We were thinking of stopping along the way for perhaps two days/nights somewhere. We have been to Fuessen before, so we'd like to explore somewhere else. We love quaint towns and castles - prefer something not too touristy if possible. Oh, and we will be traveling by train only. Any suggestions?

How about Mittenwald? It is postcard pretty and in a very scenic location.

Thanks Dutch - Mittenwald is on my list of possibilities.

How about Hall in Tirol or Innsbruck? Or another small town in either Germany or Austria?

I don't have any experience with Hall or Innsbruck. With Mittenwald, you will be near Garmisch-Partinkirchen as well as Linderhoff and the Monestary at Ettal. The tram ride up to the Zugspitze on a clear day would be spectacular.

Mittenwald is looking better...I'm trying to keep the train rides below 5 hours though. It looks like 6:20 from Biel. Last year we took the train from Biel to Lindau, on our way to Fuessen. We hoped to have some time in Lindau, but it didn't work out that way. Maybe we will stay in Lindau for one night and then on to Mittenwald?
