Zurich to Frankfurt - 10 days?
We just found a really good deal on air in to Zurich and out of Frankfurt (<$500) - but in 2 weeks! We could use a little help on an itinerary (we are having problems dividing up our time). We would like to spend 2-3 days in Switzerland (suggestions on where to stay would be greatly appreciated) and then maybe Innsbruck on our way north into Germany? Does anyone have opinions on Innsbruck (is it worth spending more than a night there)? We were then going to stay in Munich and head up the Romantic Road. Maybe spend a night in Rothenburg? And then a night (or 2) in Frankfurt? Or maybe Mainz? We are also trying to use up some of our Hilton points - so if anyone has stayed at a Hilton hotel in Innsbruck, Munich, Frankfurt, or Mainz - reviews are very welcome. The nights we don't stay for free we would like to stay in much smaller hotels.
Also - we are planning on traveling by car.
Thank you!

I wouldn't stay in Frankfurt. There's nothing really wrong with Frankfurt, it's just that there are lot more interesting and atmospheric places; e.g., Rhein R. Valley, Mosel R. Valley, Bamberg, Wurzburg.

How much driving do you want to do in any day? You could drive from Zurich to Schaffhausen and Stein am Rhine and then go along the Bodensee (lake Constance) on either the German or Swiss side. There are several nice towns to stay in.

Hi, what a good price! May I suggest that you stay either in Zurich or Lucerne (if you're doing the Hilton thing) or in one of the small lake towns in either location. Then, the Schaffhausen/Stein am Rhine and Bodensee idea is an excellent one. Lindau, Meersburg, and Uberlingen are terrific. From there, drivers can probably direct you toward Munich and up the RR from there. Sounds like a wonderful trip. You didn't tell us the total number of days. J.
