Zermatt Hotel Switzerland

Has anyone stayed in Zermatt at a hotel that had a balcony with a good view of the Matterhorn?

We will be staying in Zermatt July 11, for four days and based on a couple of the hotels that are available, we expect to pay around 183 chf per day.

We were hoping someone on this board might have stayed at some great place we missed in our search.

Thanks, Jon

I stayed at Schlosshotel with a tour group, so don't know how much. Had a private balcony on which I pickiniced one day watching clouds over the Matterhorn. The view was priceless. But I doubt all rooms had the same view.

We've stayed twice at Hotel Julien and reserved a "Matterhorn view" room. The first time was dark and rainy when we arrived, so we nearly feel over when we opened the draperies in the morning to see the fantastic view of Matterhorn. A very impressive place, but maybe out of budget? They required half pension, which I balked at, but then discovered we had a choice of their two restaurants, both really wonderful!

We stayed at the Dent-Blanche apartments (http://www.zermatt.ch/apartments/dentblanche/); I believe some of them have views of the Matterhorn. Liked the location (down a path from the main street) and the management. At the time, a three day stay was possible in summertime.

I stayed at the Hotel Allalin last year with a great view of the Matterhorn from the room's balcony. The place was spotless, the staff tremendous, the best location, and the breakfast superb!

The hotel site is: http://www.hotel-allalin.ch/

You might have already checked out the great Zermatt hotel finder on their site at:
