your best deal on airfare deal EVER

i'm interested in hearing about the major deals people are getting within the last year or two.

mine: $401 RT non-stop inclusive of taxes and fees from JFK to ATH in May 2009.

hoping to score another incredible deal this year!!!!

Hi,

Great topic!

Would you mind including the airline, travel month and how far out you bought your ticket in your responses, please?

Many thanks!

Joan, that wasn't all! When I took the MAD-JFK leg of this trip, the entertainment system didn't work quite right. So Delta gave everyone a $100 voucher, which I have happily used for an airfare to Mexico.

I posted this back in April 2004:-

Just been quoted Glasgow - East Mids with Easy Jet a fare of -£1.50.

Yes that's right MINUS £1.50!!!!!!!

They'll actually credit you £1.50 against airport tax.

It's ludicrous n'est-ce pas?

Probably not what you'd call a major deal but I am still puzzled as to the economics of it... It would have been cheaper for the airline if I hadn't flown - unless they were banking that they'd recoup their £1.50 in snack sales during the flight. Given that a tiny packet of peanuts is probably more than that I didn't oblige them.

Not quite as good a Dr_DoGood but we flew from Amsterdam to Cork and back on Aer Lingus last August/September. Cost - the fees and taxes. Oh and €30 for a checked bag.

Last March, I got IAD-VCE for $356 on Iberia for a November flight. Then in June, I got DCA-ZRH for $314 on Delta flights in September.

What site are you guys using to find these amazing airfares? I never seem to find bargains out of the Dallas area.

$329 R/T (all-in) Orange County, CA to Madrid, Spain (connections in ATL each way)

Purchase in June 2009 for travel on October 2009

*Oh, and we got $600 vouchers for giving up our seats on the return flight from ATL to SNA that was oversold*
