Yet Another Italy Itinerary

Here's another..if you could offer some feedback, you will make me smile!

Rome--4 nights
Florence--4 nights
Capri--3 nights
Ravello--2 nights
Rome-1 night before early morning departure

We will be travelling at the end of June. My husband has never been to Italy, but I have been to Rome, Florence, and Venice, so I cut out Venice. Decided that I wanted to see the AC instead. He doesn't really care where we go as long as we relax a little. Thoughts?

Five cities and hotels in 14 nights including traveling to each location can be hectic. I guess it depends on whether or not you and your husband would find this relaxing. I would love it but I know that this would not be my husbands idea of relaxing. How are you getting from place to place?
How are you planning to get from Ravello to Rome?
Whatever you do, have a wonderful trip.

I haven't thought of that..is that a difficult trip? Also, do you think we should do one or another...Ravello or Capri? I heard both were amazing places to go!

Hi Carrie,

It's a schlep from Ravello to Rome. It is less of a schlep from Capri to Rome.

Why not leave out Rome (hectic big city) and either

Fly into Venice,
go to Florence,
take the train to Salerno, the ferry to Amalfi and the bus to Ravello
Take the ferry from Amalfi to Capri
Take the ferry from Capri to Naples the day before departure.

OR

Fly into Naples, and do the trip in reverse.

Enjoy your trip

visit the AC and fly out of Naples or

THANKS for the suggestions. Unfortunately I already got my tickets in and out of Rome (do you think I can change them??). Maybe I will do Ravello first and then Capri and head back to Capri from there. OR should I just pick one of the two cities in the AC and do a day trip to the other? I heard both Ravello and Capri are magical and wouldn't want to miss either. My husband definitely doesn't want to schlep around but I don't think he should miss Rome! Thoughts????

The easy way is to omit Florence and do Rome and the Amalfi Coast ..it will give you more times to relax..

Kismetchimera...I did think about that but feel like I will miss out on a great day visiting a winery...heard it was an amazing experience. Are there any wineries close by to Rome? Also, would you eliminate Florence before Rome?

The hills around the city are full of vineyards..Also the most famous local wine is Frascati...Good table wine.

Of course..If you really want to see Florence, do it as a day trip from Rome..With the ES is only a 90 minutes trip..You can leave early morning and come back in the evening..
Florence is pretty, but it does not compare with the glory and the splendor
of Rome..
Check trenitalia.com for schedules.

Florence, the greatest Renaissance city on the planet, so often reduced to a day trip from Rome. Sigh.

Hi Carrie,

Try this

If Rome is required, visit for 2 nights.

Train to Florence 4 nights

Take the train to Salerno, the ferry to Amalfi and the bus to Ravello

Take the ferry from Amalfi to Capri

Take the ferry from Capri to Naples and the train to Rome for another 2 nights.

Ira, YOU are amazing...I didn't even think to split Rome but what a WONDERFUL idea....and if we are just loving the AC then we can stay an extra day and just do Rome for the last night again. It finally seems like this will click. THANKS so much for your insight and for everyone else's too! I appreciate it greatly.
