Hi Ksaras,
I searched and can't find our first trip report with the great day at Skellig. Perhaps a more experienced fodorite can find an Ireland trip report from 2004 by McShane or Rosetravels but I cannot.
Our second trip report from 2005 can be found by typing McShane into the search box at the top.
The one tip I have on the Skellig trip is that when the boat arrives back in Portmagee make a fast beeline to the tea house on the main street. It fills up fast and you will be dying for a nice cup of tea with apple cake.
Otherwise for the Skellig trip it's all remarkable. My DH is a geologist. Imagine his delight at being atop a rock seemingly in the middle of the ocean! And the buildings made of rocks!
On the ROK we enjoyed Derrynane house but we also drove up and over the spine of the peninsula on the way back from Skellig and that was remarkable. We saw but one other car and the road through Mullaghanattin pass and Macgillycuddy's Reeks was amazing. Even the names are cool.
I third the suggestion to go to the National Museum. We really enjoyed it, especially since we'd been to Knowth and Newgrange.
I think the boat to the Cliffs of Moher is a great idea. Others on the forum have loved it. We've been twice to the top of the Cliffs and it was all right but it's not high on my list. Especially now that they have the giant tour bus parking lot and there are so many people. I think it will be better from the water.

ksaras,
I didn't read every word of this post so maybe I missed it, but Bit mentioned Loch Lein Country house in Killarney. Michele Erdvig of IrelandYes has a very good rate for this accommodation. Why don't you visit her web-site as well.
I hope you have a wonderful trip, Joan
