Yay! I booked my museums!
Thanks to everyone for their advice on how to book a viewing at the musuems in FLorence. I was able to book the Uffizi and the Academi...I am sooo happy!
I was nervous at first talking to the operator....but she was very kind and her accent was sooo beautiful!
I have a feeling I am going to love Italy!!!

Great. I think some people got scared off booking via phone because (I'm told) Rick Steve's book makes it sound like a hassle. We did it, and finished the whole process in about 2 minutes.
BTW, if you try to book on the Web, the tickets end up costing you about triple what they do over the phone.

You absolutely will fall in love with Italy. I know I've read some of your other posts, but I don't remember when you are going or where exactly (other than Florence, obviously). I went for the first time in February '06 and yearn to go back - In fact, I am hoping to take my husband in October '06.
I mentioned this in my trip report, but one of the many things that really impressed me about Italy was that it is very visitor friendly. The people are extremely helpful and everything is easily accessible. And the beauty is overwhelming!
"David" is amazing and the Uffizi was wonderful! Please be sure to post a trip report.

Will do! Travel reports are usually very difficult to me cause I don't know where to start....I am a writer and usually write more emotional pieces, so sometimes I feel a bit scattered when trying to describe everything.
I will use my journal definately more on this trip and write down places and names and all sorts of details!
I am getting so antsy about my trip! Yay!

Which company did you guys book thru? I used the phone number listed on here and they gave me a confirmation number. They did not ask for payment...is that normal?

Just yesterday (Sunday) DW and I were saying to each other "We'll have to remember to make our museum reservations two months ahead."
A few minutes later we realized - it is two months ahead right now!
We'll make ours tomorrow morning
Thanks, VS
