Wow! How things changed since April 2002

On this rainy day I am going through my old files and here what I see.
In April 2002 we rented a car in Greece and paid 767.77 euros = US $661.00
How much would we pay today for this rental?

How long was the rental for? Obviously the price would be higher what with the exchange rate.

In terms of the "other" response..well, you know the old saying, "All that we send into the lives of others comes back into our own" so your imagination can take care of the rest on that score.

Z: At today's rate, the 767.77 euros would convert to $923.70! Your point is a good one!

I stayed at a gorgeous B&B near Stratford/Warwick/Coventry in 1996 for 23 pounds a night... that same one today is now close to 100 pounds a night. and I don't think they changed anything!

Thirty years ago a property in Mayfair worth 100k is now worth in excess of 2m, something called inflation coupled with many other factors.

Z, yes, I know what you mean. I was looking at an almost 3 year old Frommers Paris guide and the quoted hotel rates in euors converted to much less USD than it would be nowadays!

Going back to the original post, 767.77 Euros would be worth about $921 U.S. today. That is almost a 40 percent increase in the U.S. dollar cost without factoring ANY increase in the local cost of the rental car.

Do people still drive Hammers? With today's gas prices how much would cost to feed this monster?

Anyone is thinking about buying Ford's Hybird SUV? Suppose to be available in September

Perhaps the car would cost less than 767.77 euros today--depends on a lot of factors. Need to know what kind of car, how many days, were picked up and returned, was optional insurance purchased, etc.
