Would you give up Alahambra (day) for Sevilla?

My husband will be working in Madrid April-23-26th and I'm coming along. I thought I would take in Toledo on my own one day and otherwise busy myself with Madrid. My intention was to spend one night in Granada for Alahambra but we could only get night tickets for the 27th and 2 pm day tickets on the 28th so we will have to spend two nights in Granada OR abandon the idea of seeing Alhambra during the day and spend two nights in Sevilla.
We have to back in Madrid the morning of May 1st.
I realize this is a bit rushed, but I really want to see Sevilla and Alhambra. Should I sacrifice our daytime tickets and head out on the 28th?

Having been to both, I much preferred Granada and the Alhambra to Sevilla. The Alhambra is just spectacular and Granada is a very enjoyable and vibrant town with great restaurants and night life.

I enjoyed both Granada and Sevilla, so I suspect that either of your options could be wonderful. I'm very glad that I saw the Alhambra during both the day and night, and I found plenty of other delightful things to do in Granada. But it really depends on what you want to see! Have you considered traveling to Sevilla after your afternoon visit to the Alhambra?

Were you planning to fly to Granada? - IMO Seville is much easier to access - you can take the AVE train from Madrid to Seville. Stop long enough in Cordoba to see the Mezquita, then continue on to Seville. I thought the Alcazar in Seville was very similar to the Alhambra - many of the same architectural features, maybe the gardens were not so extensive but it gives you a good idea of the the grandeur of the Moorish presence in Spain. The AVE to Seville is much faster than going to Granada, at least by train. And the Mezquita is one of the most uniques sights in all of Europe.

Tough one! I think that if you have one day only, the Alhambra is worth it. I saw Sevilla in one day (and night) and had to rush so much. I visited the Alcazabar and cathedral / giralda but everything else was a walking tour. I've not used the train in spain so couldn't comment on that.

I enjoyed the Alhambra and also the Alcazar. I agree that they have many similarities to include the room interiors; the gardens and Generalife at the Alhambra were more extensive than the gardens at the Alcazar as I recall.

I am not sure why you would have to abandon the idea altogether if you have 2 PM day tickets. You could go to Granada early in AM of your day visit (there is a 7:00 AM train from Seville which arrives Granada at 10:00 AM) date; see the Alhambra and stay overnight one night.

If I had to chose between either the day or the night Alhambra visit or not at all I would pick the daytime visit.

If the issue is that you HAVE to see the Alhambra then I would go. If you are looking for something unique (after seeing the Alcazar) you might be somewhat disappointed.

I'm a bit of an architecture buff and really looking forward to seeing Alhambra. We've decided to jump on the train from Granada to Sevilla on the morning of the 28th and see as much as we can in 24 hours. Staying at Hotel Amadeus, but they are charging 150 Euros due to the Feria. I was getting worried b/c a dozen other hotels I contacted were already booked.

Would you guys travel to Alahambra from Nerja - it's 2.5 hours + one way.
By that time I will be gone through Cordoba and Seville. It sounds like between these 2, I may skip 5 hours commute ot Alahambra? What do you think?
