I will be arriving at Heathrow on BA and would like to head straight to Edinburgh. WOuld it be cheaper if I take another flight or a 1st class seat in a train?

It's certainly easier to take a plane. We got a RT on BA this summer for about $85. USD per person. The good thing if you do BA is that you can check your luggage straight through to Edinburgh. No contest in my book

Well - first of all there is no direct rail connection from LHR to Edinburgh. You would have to go into London on the Paddington express, transfer by taxi or tube to Kings Cross and then catch a train. Because of competition from low cost airlines, the London - Scotland fares are pretty good. Almost certainly the train would cost more.

Yes, but most (if not all) of those cheap flights don't leave Heathrow. You better take one of those private cabs to Luton (about an hour drive) and board EasyJet from there. Its CHEAPER and MUCH MUCH FASTER than a train...

British Airways and BMI have recently been advertising affordable flights from London Heathrow direct to Edinburgh. It's not always the case that the "budget" airlines are the cheapest.

Give the following websites a try:

www.britishairways.com
www.flybmi.c om
