GreenDragon, there are only 2 of us and we're renting a Ford Fiesta so that shouldn't be a problem. Bob, I don't know about the Arans - definitely a possibility, but I've read that Inishbofin is perhaps more "authentic" and it's certainly closer to Clifden. Advice welcome! And have a great trip this summer.

By the way, you might consider removing or at least tying on your hubcaps. We lost three of ours and ended up buying a new set to replace them. Those roads are so narrow, and vegetation brushes the wheels as you drive down these roads.
Avis was perfectly okay with out replacement hubcaps.
