World Cup Soccer?
I am going to Germany with my family next week. At church today a college student asked me to "keep my ears open" while in Germany regarding a World Cup tournament in Germany sometime in the future, as he would like to go. (Sorry, I'm not a soccer lover. I don't even know where or when this is happening!) I really thought asking this group what you know about the tournament might be better than trying to think of one more thing while I'm on vacation! Any websites or information venues you can recommend?

You can relax and enjoy your holiday; the World Cup doesn't begin until 2006! www.fifa.com would have a lot of info.

While the finals of World Cup won't be until the summer 2006, the qualification round starts autumn 2004 following Euro 2004 in Portugal (in Europe at least). Rest of the world also starts around the same time. Details of the final and tickets won't be available until then, and they will all be announced through FIFA website.

Yes, but the US don't know who their oppositions are in the qualifying group until Dec 5, when the draw takes place in Frankfurt. S American confederaition as always play all their matches on a league basis over the 2 years or so, with the top four automatically qualifying and the 5th placed team competing in a play-off (when Australia lost to Uruguay for the last World Cup).
