Alsace ! If you're renting a car, a daytrip should be sufficient to cover 4 or 5 wineries and a nice lunch. Some of the finest Riesling, Pinot Gris, Gewurtztraminer, sylvaner and even their version of Pinot Noir abounds.
Take the Basel to Colmar route and then drive along the Route de Vin where degustacion signs are everywhere.
Enjoy.

The Swiss have wine too. East of Zurich, in the canton Graubünden you will find excellent red wines, mostly Pinot Noir.
18/19 June they present their wines in the wine museum in Chur (Weinbaumuseum).
Or you go to the small town Maienfeld (only an hour from Zurich, motorway or train towards Chur/East). Every weekend from April to Oct a different winegrower has his wine cellar open for tasting (and buying
).
Date, Name, Address (in Maienfeld), Phone-No.:
5. / 6. HJ. Nigg, Industrie 4 081/302 71 09
12. / 13. M. u. S. Lampert, Lurgasse 7 081/330 19 70
19. / 20. F. Möhr, Steigstrasse 22 A 081/330 10 83
26. / 27. HP. Lampert, Heidelberg 4 081/330 72 05
