Windsor Castle from Heathrow Airport

Hi! We'll be arriving in London Heathrow by 9:00am on a Friday and will spend the day (adjusting jet leg), going to Glasgow next day morning. We will stay at a Sheraton Airport - Hotel (miles program reward) and from there we would like to visit the Windsor Castle. Stay until 2:00pm and then go to London. We've been in London before, checked out the most important tourist attractions and now want to visit the Windsor Castle and ride the London Eye (probably go for the boat ride too). What's the best way to do it? Train, tube, taxi... Thanks..

Patricia, I found this website that may give you some info on getting to Windsor Castle: http://www.windsor. gov.uk/transport/taxi.htm. From Windsor, you can take the train back to London (http://www.windsor.gov. uk/transport/train.htm).

Dear Ms Schenkel, The site http://www.firstgroup.com/firstbeeline/mainserv/windsor/windsor1.htm gives you the bus times, if you use PDF, a software that you can download free. Busses leave Heathrow central bus area at 0550, 0620, 0700, 0730, 0803 and every half hour until 1733 and 1850. They take 29 minutes to Windsor High Street. Welcome to Britain Ben Haines, London

Bearing in mind your short timeframe, and that you will be leaving from the hotel instead of directly from the LHR terminal, a taxi to Windsor and a train from Windsor to London would be your best choice. The bus Ben suggests does not serve the hotel so you have to to-and-fro to LHR to catch the bus.

Patricia, the website I gave you provided info on the taxi fare from Heathrow to Windsor: For visitors arriving at Heathrow, it may be expensive to pick up a taxi outside the Airport so pre-book a taxi for a cheaper price. Approximate price for a taxi from Heathrow to Windsor is £45.00, a pre-booked taxi will cost approximately £20.00, depending on the time of day. The website lists several taxi companies for reference.
