wimbledon tickets

How long does one have to wait in line to buy tickets the first week at Wimbledon. I am planning on taking an 85 year old father to see 2-3 days of great tennis. Is it worth the trip to England or are the lines simply TOO long. I would appreciate anyone's comments with a similar experience.

The queueing may be a bit much for your old dad. Check out this link for official information. You could probably do worse than phoning the organisers for some information from the horse's mouth.

Jim, The queue wait does require a great deal of stamina especially on a sunny day. The lines seem to be even longer the first week of the tournament because your chances are of seeing the first rate players with a grounds ticket is greater. That said it's still fun to be in England during Wimbledon. 24/7 wall to wall coverage on the BBC and in the papers.

I waited a good 4 or 5 hours in 2000 for a grounds pass (everything but the big courts).

Jim, I'm also going to Wimbledon this summer. I got tickets through the public ballot for centre court for day two. I'm planning on standing in line for grounds passes for day one. I asked for advice on this forum. Search on "Wimbledon 2004" under my name to see what I was told. Susan
