jamiec: Massa Lubrense is a small town/area and not a city. Here are some notes I've saved that were posted on this board by bellastar and vincenzo...
[bellastar] Massalubrense (both the town and the commune (like a "county" with different villages) is lovely and more peaceful, and there is wonderful hiking there (It's on the Sorrentine Peninsula, as opposed to the Amalfi Coast). There's hiking on the "scalinatelli" - ancient stone steps that lace up and down the hillsides. Get a map of the area and Look for "Sta Cosanza" which is a tiny chapel you can hike to on stone path that goes out of Termini (a village out on the tip of The Sorrentine Peninsula with an incredible view of Capri. The little chapel straddles a ridge from where you can have a magnificent sweeping view of both the Bay of Naples and the Tyrrenian Sea at the same time. Not too many people make it up there so it can be pretty dramatic. If a storm is brewing out over the water- you can see it from a great distance…
[Vincenzo] welcome to Massa Lubrense. I don't live there, I live in Piano di Sorrento; however, I say that Massa Lubrense is the best, better than Sorrento. Massalubrense, la collina massese! Far from the madding crowd, a Paradise! There is a path, only to walk, for Punta Campanella. It begins at Termini and Termini is an hamlet (!) of Massalubrense. To walk there means to walk in heaven: Capri is so near that you can touch the Faraglioni and if you go in the afternoon before sunset - eyes aren't big enough to collect all you see! Really, tourists here are few and most of them are Italian. I could talk more and more about Massalubrense !
