Jan,
My error. You can do a text search on the name you enter in your "post a reply" box, not your e-mail address. By entering "jan" you'll not only get your posts but those of anyone else named "jan". Don't think the search function is too happy with characters such as @ or _ in addresses.

Wes and Jan, I just entered my e-mail address in the search box and it pulled up every post that I have made. It also did it within 2 seconds.

Yes, if I narrow it down to [email protected], then I get all my messages. Major time-saver! Thank you to all of you for your perserverence and help.

Yes this is very very very annoying, and difficult for me to understand. I work with SQL databases and databases in general daily and this isn't that tough.

A search for my email address, which I always use, finds an ancient thread on calling home. I've probably replied to or created 30 posts since then.

When I want to be able to find something here in the future, I right mouse click on the page, go to properties, then copy and paste the URL (the wwww thingee) into a document. It doesn't look like you can copy the URL, but highlight it w/ your mouse, then hold down Ctrl while pressing C, to paste it either select edit/paste from Word or hold down Ctrl while pressing V. Good luck.

To Mike:

You'll do little or no good by posting your thoughts about this here on the forum.

Write to [email protected] or [email protected] or [email protected] or all three.
My PC runs Windows XP.
When I want to be able to find a thread in the future , all I have to do is right click the URL of that thread ( the blue letters that are underlined on the left side of the page) and then I click "add to favorites".
I have created a favorites folder that is entitled "Fodors threads" and that is where I pace each thread I want to save for future reading.

This is helpful, but quite beside the point. There are thousands and thousands of useful posts here, and on an average day, the post you vaguely remember seeing cannot be retrieved using the search "engine" if it occurred in the most recent thousand or so message threads.
