why are my messages disappearing?

I have posted three messages today that have disappeared from the board. is it because I usually put a fake address on my email address? I just don't want program to pick up my email address and sent virus to it (which does happen by the way) Anyone know what the problem is?

Pam: I've had the same problem all day. Then I happened across and old posting which discussed this very problem. Someone pointed out that you could find your post(s) by leaving the search line blank and searching on COUNTRY only. I tried it and, Voila!, there were all my duplicate posts...how embarrassing, huh?

Most likely your threads have not disappeared. They were probably pushed several pages down by other threads. The search function doesn't always work (but it is MUCH better than it used to be). Often the country searches don't work at all. Put a word you KNOW was in your message in the search box and click find. More than likely you will see your thread. Otherwise, your only option is to page down (and Down, and down) til you find it.

I meant to add that it has nothing to do with your e-mail address

Pam,<BR><BR>It's complicated to explain to a new visitor the hows and whys of the "search" fucntion here. It simply doesn't work for "newer" posts - - sometimes "newer" can mean the last 12 hours - - sometimes it can mean twelve weeks.<BR><BR>And this might not have worked yesterday - - but right now, a search on "junk" readily retrieves the following eleven messages from you:<BR><BR>http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessages.jsp?fid=2&tid=1377346<BR><BR>http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessages.jsp?fid=2&tid=1377410<BR><BR>http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessages.jsp?fid=2&tid=1377231<BR><BR>http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessages.jsp?fid=2&tid=1377121<BR><BR>http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessages.jsp?fid=2&tid=1376741<BR><BR>http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessages.jsp?fid=2&tid=1376458<BR><BR>http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessages.jsp?fid=2&tid=1376311<BR><BR>http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessages.jsp?fid=2&tid=1376232<BR><BR>http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessages.jsp?fid=2&tid=1376130<BR><BR>http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessages.jsp?fid=2&tid=1375457<BR><BR>http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessages.jsp?fid=2&tid=1375328<BR><BR>Best wishes,<BR><BR>Rex<BR>

bringing this back up to the top for pam.<BR><BR>Might need to be done a few times throughout the day, as perhaps pam is a night-time visitor here. Hope that she sees this sooner or later.<BR><BR>Or maybe this thread should be e-mailed to her, if that really is a real e-mail provided in the original posting.<BR>

Again, Thanks for the replies, I tracked down all of the messages earlier. Been learning my way around the search function. And yes, I am a night lurker.

Why doesn't everyone get indexed?<BR>I checked a thread that was started yesterday and the thread was indexed as were all the names answering the post except for two. Mine was one of them. All the answers had names including the two that did not index. This is such a mystery and a bit embarrassing. Therefore, I am signing this with XXX.
