Which Vienna Hotel?

I have narrowed my hotel choices in Vienna down to these hotels. I found great discount rates at all of them for under 105 euro a night for a single room. I am looking for a place that has decent size rooms, a/c and located in the center of Old Town. So, what do you think?

PENSION PERTSCHY
HOTEL PARKRING
K+K PALAIS
HOTEL KAISERIN ELIISABETH
HOTEL WANDL
PENSION NOSSEK

Pension Pertschy and Nossek 95% sure do not have air con. Wandl's website does not refer to it, so also very unlikely. So down to three.
Parkring is quite an 80s hotel - least character of all the hotels. Not seen a room but they look OK in the brochure and price is very good. Higher up rooms have good views (top floor restaurant has great view) and it is 5 minute walk to air terminal busstop. Other upside is two minutes walk to Harrys Time which in my view is easily best value lunch menu in Vienna (euro 17 for 6 courses) or for degustation at dinner -had it last night euro36 for up to 26 courses, (I only did 9). Downside is right on the ring (road) so if you want to open a window then you will get the noise.
K & K has bright yellow rooms and corridors - which may feel a bit much depending on taste, but definitely not gloomy. 105 is a great deal for this hotel. 5 minute walk to dead centre but within ring opposite a small park/playground. Very convenient for a fairly busy pub bit of Vienna. K & K hotels are pretty good standard and well run.
Both of these hotels I suspect are modern enough not to have proper single rooms, whereas Kaiserin Elizabeth I am pretty sure will give you a single which may not be great. I have seen two rooms there - newly done up deluxe double, which was very nice and great space and offered in Feb at euro 190 - and standard double at euro 150 which had not been so recently done up and was OK, but not special. With 105 for a single I would be a little wary of it - it is quitelikely to be not so recently renovated, ( e.g the Nossek has one proper single room and it is absolute crap, told it was untypical but travelling alone sometimes means you get stuffed with this sort of room). Style wise if you like an older more empire feel, go for this hotel as the other 2 will give you nothing of that feel (although K & K building is old). The hotel is generally better furnished in older style than Pertschy or Nossek. Kaiserin Elizabeth is extremely well located 100 metres from dead centre. Alot of rooms face and internal courtyard and are therefore very quiet, but not exactly inspiring views. I was surprised to see that they had air con according to one web site - double check with them at the same time as double checking what a single room is.
If you can get a double rooms for single use, I would possibly angle for Kaiserin Elizabeth. If you want room with a view, definitely go for Parkring (K & K can be quite pleasant as well). If not bothered with better view or see risk of small single room, go for K & K.
If you want I can go check out single room at Kaiserin - its only 2 minute walk for me from work.

Wow!
Those are great rates
The KAISERIN ELIISABETH would be my choice. It's a smaller hotel, very pretty and beautifully located. It's normally very hard to get into.
We've stayed at Hotel Wandl and enjoyed it. Another nice location -- our double was enormous. I don't know about a/c there, but we didn't need it in July when we were there. In fact we had come from Skopje where it was 45 c. to 50 f. in Vienna!
I don't recommend the Parkring -- it's too far around the ring to be central.

Yes, I thought I did get great rates. i checked the rates on al the travel reservation websites then i emailed the hotels direct and asked for their "Beat Rates" and got rates up to 20% lower than posted on the hotel reservation sites. Usually you can get a good deal if you simple ask!!

Also, I was surprised to find rooms available since I am going to Vienna on June 1! Although I got good hotel rates, airfare is a bit of an issue....

Hi
We stayed at the Nossek in 1999. Rooms were a very good size and well appointed. Staff helpful. Parking was a problem, must park outside the pedestrian area. We were there in a Sept. A/C was not an issue, I cannot remember if they had it or not. It was warm while we were there. Our daughter stayed at the Pertschy and loved it, especially the breakfast.

Nossek is a great location, right on the Graben. Our view was on the street, early morning, as usual in Europe in the heart of things, can be noisy.

Hi, richardab -
I stayed at the Kaiserin Elisabeth in May o 2002. Had two different rooms, with a trip to Salzburg in between. The first was a double (discounted slightly for single occupancy). It was lovely - a nice size, pretty, but in a "tailored", not Laura Ashley kind of way. It faced the interior courtyard so it was light but quiet. The second was a single and it truly was a single - small, with a single bed. Of course, in the ironic European way, this tiny room had an enormous bathroom with a big tub, bidet, etc! If you can afford it, get the double and call the hotel to see if they'll cut you a deal for single occupancy.
P.S. great breakfast buffet at the K.E.

dovima answered my query on the single room. So down to Parkring or K & K if no guarantee on avoiding second rate single room. Sfowler is wrong on inconvenient location of Parkring - hotel is 4 minutes direct easy walk up either of one of two streets to Stefansplatz which most would regard as centre of town - it is the closest part of the ring to there. Easy walk to museums and if you want get the tram for 3 stops or so -stop is right outside hotel.
Its getting waermer now but 1st June would not get too bothered for ac. Pertschy I would definitely rate higher than Nossek just on basis of reception area. But Pertschy is a little kitsch with its little pink rose bud wallpaper. I thought Nossek reception was tatty rather than anything old fashioned and quaint (Pertschy is recently done up), even if awful room was really untypical.

Haven't been there before but on recommendation booked into Pension Neuer Markt . You will usually get a better price from a Pension than a Hotel.

I would also go for the Kaiserin Elisabeth, but note that not all rooms are air conditioned, so be sure to confirm in writing with the hotel that you will be getting a room with AC. Also try and get one of the rooms that has a rooftop view of St. Stephens cathedral--beautiful at night.

I emailed the HOTEL KAISERIN ELIISABETH and they told me that they would gve me a "larger single" with a/c for the low price they quoted (105 euro). Sounds like a good deal???

Pipsil - I saw the Pension Neu Markt and of all the Pensions I have seen thought it was the cheapest as it was the worst. Shame as it has a good location. If I was on a tight budget maybe I would go for it as location is so good. Reasons for worst- the corridor walls are awful -cheap formica type boards stuck in metal frames, low ceilings in corridors and dated chinzty rooms, pretty crappy low level beds. I know some Americans like chintzy "empire" style rooms - pink and floral, so maybe you are OK with this, but quality of Pertschy for similar taste was much better. Neumarkt to me just felt cheap and second rate.
