Which Train Station from Paris to Provence?

We are departing May 26th from our 7th arron. apartment to head to Avignon for a week in Provence. From which train station should we plan on taking the TGV?

Also, is it too early to book my train tickets now?

I can't get Prems fares yet though, right?

The earliest you can book the TGV is 3 months in advance. However, iDTGV tickets are sometimes available earlier than 3 months in advance. Search for MorganB's excellent write-up on train travel - it will answer most of your questions.

I just went to the iDTGV site and found that booking is open now for the month of May. Fares throughout the month range from E19 to E85. The fare for 26 May is currently E38.90.

Since PREM'S on regular TGVs can be as low as E25, you might want to wait until the 90-day booking window opens and then book ASAP.

Hi J,

Look at www.voyages-sncf.com for schedules and tickets.

Oops! I misread the iDTGV site. It's the morning (07:54) train that has 2nd class seats for E38.90 (and 1st class seats for E44.90) on 26 May. The 20:20 iDTGV has 2nd class seats for E19.00 and 1st class seats for E24.00.

Assume you're going in the day but if taking a night train some of these now leave from Austerlitz to Provence - Avignon and Nice.

In checking my ticket prices for May 26 it seems that the morning TGVs are a lot more than the evening ones- which is to be expected I guess. I think I might wait until the 90 day window opens to see if I can get cheaper fares on the 7:54 morning train.

However, I'm concerned because it says "Hurry, last seats available!" Is this something I really should be concerned with or not really?

yes, you should be concerned with it, as they are saying seats are running out. I don't think they just lie and make that up, in my experience. They mean it.

Well, it's been saying that for several weeks now - that's why I ask.

I'll just wait for the regular TGVs to go on sale 90 days out and hope for PREM fares to be available.
